Our Core Values
The Root of LIN
The LIN clan's origin can be traced to Lin Jian, the first known LIN.
Lin Jian’s father, the honorable Bigan (比干), served as a distinguished advisor to his nephew, King Zhou (紂王) in what is modern day Henan province.
Known for his unwavering loyalty, Bigan dedicated himself to fortifying the kingdom's rule. However, as the increasing decadence of the ruler threatened the nation, Bigan's earnest advice angered King Zhou, who executed Bigan and sent his family into hiding.
Subsequently, King Wu of Zhou (武王) triumphed over King Zhou, honoring Bigan posthumously through his son, Jian. Jian was designated as the Duke of Boling (known today as Weihui 卫辉 city), responsible for overseeing 240 states, and bestowed with the surname 'LIN’ as he was born in the forest while his mother evaded capture.
Thus, Weihui emerged as the cradle of the LIN surname, with Lin Jian standing as the illustrious forefather, and Bigan as the revered founder of this enduring lineage.
Since then, the LIN name expanded across China, particularly in Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, and Zhejiang.
Today, there are over 18 million LIN globally.
